Trust the Timing of Your Life: How to Stand in Your Power

There’s something about the phrase “Trust the timing of your life” that always seems to land when we need it most.

I took this photo on a sunny afternoon, a simple flat lay by the pool at my in-laws’ house. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. But when I looked back later, the words on the page stopped me.

For years I’d chased “perfect” timing, telling myself I’d make big changes when I felt ready, when the fear quieted, when everything lined up just right. But the truth is, the timing never feels perfect. Those words felt like an invitation not to rush and to have it all figured out, but to take a deep breath and remember that maybe everything is unfolding exactly as it should.

And honestly, that’s been the biggest lesson of my adult life: learning to trust that timing, even when it doesn’t make sense in the moment.

When You Know It’s Time to Change

For me, that realization came after years in the corporate world. I had all the right boxes checked with career stability, steady income and benefits but every morning I woke up with a pit in my stomach and a wave of anticipatory anxiety. I’d go through the motions convincing myself that with enough self-care, supplements, or sessions with my naturopath I could somehow balance it all out. But deep down, I knew something had to give. Burnout doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it’s the quiet knowing that life should feel much more fun and enjoyable than where I was in that exact moment.

Leaving corporate life wasn’t easy. It meant walking away from the comfort of structure into an open space of uncertainty. But what I’ve learned since then is that trusting the timing of your life isn’t about waiting for the fear to disappear. It’s about learning to walk alongside it.

The Fear Never Fully Goes Away

Doubt and fear still show up for me, even now. Instead of pushing them down or pretending they don’t exist, I’ve learned to honor them. They’re not signs that I’m on the wrong path but reminders that I’m growing.

Fear shows up in so many forms whether through hesitation, perfectionism, procrastination, or self-doubt. It’s that small voice that tells you, “You’re not ready yet.” The voice doesn’t get quieter when you wait. It only softens when you take action in spite of it.

When I made the leap to build my own photography business, I kept coming back to one reason that mattered more than all the excuses: freedom. Freedom to build a schedule that worked for my life. Freedom to invest in my health. Freedom to show up for my family including even the simple things like being there for my nieces on a random weekday afternoon or traveling to another city when our family needed us. That flexibility became the reward for trusting the timing, even when it didn’t make the most logical sense.

What It Means to Stand in Your Own Power

Standing in your power doesn’t always look bold or loud. Sometimes it’s quiet through a whispered “yes” to yourself when everything in your world is telling you to wait. It’s choosing the life you know you’re meant for, not the one others expect of you.

For me, that meant embracing my creativity, trusting my vision, and helping others do the same through photography. Every time I work with another business owner or creative, I’m reminded how transformative it is when women step into their truth. There’s something magical about helping someone feel confident, empowered, and authentic in how they show up because it’s not just about the pretty photos. It’s about being seen and heard.

And maybe that’s what standing in your power really means: letting yourself be seen, fully and unapologetically.

Trusting Your Own Season

If you feel like you’re stuck in a season of waiting whether for clarity, confidence, or the “right” moment, let this be your reminder: no one’s timeline will ever look like yours. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Sometimes the most transformative growth happens in the waiting. In my experience, the “wrong” turns or delayed opportunities are what shape your strength, your perspective, and your story.

Trusting your timing doesn’t mean forcing yourself to love every moment but believing that even when you can’t see the full picture, things are unfolding exactly as they should.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from leaving corporate life behind, it’s that transformation rarely comes wrapped in certainty. It comes through the risk, the stretch, and the decision to keep moving forward even when it’s uncomfortable.

What If

What would change if you fully trusted the timing of your life, and stopped waiting for the perfect moment?

I promise you that you don’t have to have it all figured out. None of us do. But you can start right where you are by honoring your desires, your growth, and the season you’re in.

The truth is, the timing of your life has never been off. t’s always been preparing you for exactly where you’re meant to be.
